Vauxhall Key Programming - Replacement

All Vauxhall models, from 1998 upwards, have been built with a factory-installed immobiliser system. It is coded with a serial number that matches one coded on a microchip embedded in the car key. It’s impossible to start your car without the correct key.

Some early Vauxhall models use a separate immobiliser box that “talks” to the car’s electric control unit (ECU). Some of the later models use an immobiliser system that is combined with the ECU and dashboard clocks.

How Are We Different To The Main Dealer?

The main dealer will normally require you to wait for 7 to 10 working days whilst they order the key in, we carry the keys in stock and can do the job the same day.

The main dealer will require you to get the vehicle to them, which often involves expensive recovery costs, we offer a fully mobile service so we are able to provide replacement car keys at the car's location.

If you have a working key that starts the engine our technicians can provide you with a spare. Our best recommendation would be to have a spare key programmed as it's more cost-effective because we do not have to gain entry to the vehicle and decode the car locks. You'll also be prepared if one of the keys gets lost, broken or simply locked inside the vehicle.

If your remote fob or the transponder chip de-synchronised and your car key stopped working, they need to be re-sychronised using specialist equipment. the keys need to be synchronised with the vehicles immobiliser system to enable the engine to start.

The transponder chip in the key has a specific number which is picked up by the coil in the ignition and a signal is sent to the immobiliser with the number and an engine start is allowed if the number matches the programmed data,
